Book Description

Inspired to write after her Memere passed away from cancer, author Jessica Bouchard pens
My Friend Jacob, a tale of a young boy who is sick. This book is the first of a series written some years ago that will inspire and give valuable lessons to young readers.

Jacob is a little boy who stays in the hospital because he is terminally ill—he is suffering from cancer. He has tubes in him and has to take medicine that makes him feel bad. He can’t go outside and play like normal children do.

However, he is a surprisingly happy boy, although with his condition. When he’s not feeling sick, he closes his eyes and travels to different places with his imagination.

The narrator of the story is a young girl who visits Jacob every week and brings him homemade cookies. She keeps him company and describes her experiences to Jacob, especially about her grandmother’s garden.

This book is also written to help fund charities that help with the healing process of children with cancer.
