Dr. Katie Eastman’s book “Uplifting” stands out from all other books I have read in my lifetime. This book is a perfect blend of immense wisdom and knowledge on grief and loss, and transformation. She draws from her training days with Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, her experiences as a social worker caring for palliative children and families (particularly Jason’s story), and her role in developing the first pediatric palliative care program on the Eastern seaboard plus so many other attributes and contributions in her life. Dr. Eastman also shares insights imparted by the luminaries who have influenced her life.

Throughout the book, Dr. Eastman speaks to the truths of powerful transformation from pain to purpose, drawing from the depths of her own life experiences. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to put this book down. The power of her personal stories and those of individuals who have been “uplifted” through adversity to become ambassadors of shining hope and uplifting inspiration to others is the golden thread that runs through this book.

As a colleague, grief coach, and dear friend, Dr. Katie has coached me through loss and transitions both professionally and personally, particularly a loss of a young person in our family, and the loss of both my mother and father. Her guidance and support have been invaluable during these challenging times. Katie has also been a guest lecturer and speaker at two universities where I taught as faculty, and her keynote speeches deeply moved and uplifted my students.

I look forward to seeing this book in the hands of people all around the world, as its message of resilience and transformation is truly universal and timeless. Dr. Katie Eastman’s “Uplifting” is not only a testament to her expertise and compassion but also a reflection of the profound impact she has had on the lives of those fortunate enough to meet her and know her. Read this book, and you are invited to meet this spectacular and generous human being who has pioneered so many socially transformative initiatives and contributed to the betterment of our world!

Excellent Book to Help Navigate Turning Pain into Purpose and Grief into Growth

It’s critical to process emotions and actions moving forward after loss, so as not to be stuck, bitter, or worse: hurt others unknowingly. This book helps alleviate those murky, dark, give-up moments and help others find their wings to carry on.

I’m forever grateful for the work of Dr. Katie Eastman. Not a day goes by where I don’t thank her for taking me under her beautiful butterfly wings and teaching me so many aspects of various topics to help people be their best. While working alongside each other for several years at Best Ever You, I was in a very painful spot with my father so ill from having had a series of strokes in 2004. Our family was thrown for a loop and in caregiver mode from 2004-2018. After my dad passed, I revisited the book Dr. Eastman I had written together and instantly saw a book I could also use to navigate that “pain in to purpose” and deep loss as Dr. Katie had so gracefully contributed to the book.

Dr. Katie, to me, was and is a grief counselor through and through. I focus on Dr. Katie’s lessons about grief and navigating through difficult circumstances with grace, elegance and to someone find joy again in the midst of chaos. When my father died in 2018, I was frozen in grief for a solid year after. Remembering Dr. Katie’s wisdom and some tools of my own, I was able to continue writing and move publishers to produce more books on the topics of success in all areas of our lives.

Having worked with Dr. Katie years ago now to produce a video about her work and books work makes me proud, also, I believe Katie is a resource that needs to be brought to light and the forefront as she is so very needed, alongside her new book on the topic of grief. I believe Dr. Katie is a leading expert in grief, especially when dealing with families and children as well as aging parents and those terminally ill.

Congratulations! May the world be more peaceful as a whole, knowing how to navigate grief more

The stories filled with inner conflict, and pain are uplifting because they do not stop with that but move us to the possibilities we have to feel joy and purpose through it all. This is the powerful part of the book. It is a challenge to see the choices as opportunities to move deeper into ourselves to the felt experiences of the moment where we will find our “true selves.”

I would recommend this book! Why? Because it is moving and offers a perspective on one of the most difficult topics in our society, the impending death of a child. It is almost a forbidden topic. You share how to meet the children and families where they are, while at the same time you share your own loss and challenges with incredible honesty and what I perceive as vulnerability.
