I am a British trained registered nurse living and working in Sydney, Australia. I have spent more than 20 years as a wound care nurse consultant visiting residential aged care facilities to see residents with wounds. Many residents suffered from dementia and were often unable to communicate, with various behavioural problems. I have several peer-reviewed publications on aged care associated pressure ulcers, and skin tears. I have a law degree and prepare reports for the Courts when patients develop pressure ulcers, a foreseeable and preventable injury. My PhD thesis is on repositioning to prevent pressure ulcers without informed consent.
