I Wish . . .

Like many people, I have always enjoyed writing poems for my wife and son, our friends, and others to celebrate special occasions or events. Several years ago, I wrote twelve four line poems for children on the theme “I Wish . . .” as if a child was wishing he or she could be another animal.

A few years later, I asked my youngest granddaughter to draw an illustration for each of the poems. She was a sophomore in high school at the time and was attending a fine arts high school in Roanoke, Virginia. Having no knowledge about the procedure to get them published, I simply shared the poems and illustrations with a few friends. At their suggestion however, I finally did some serious research on publishing, and the result was “I Wish . . .” Now I wish I had found Xlibris a few years ago.
