Tai Chi Chuan was originally developed as a martial art, with secondary health benefits. PART ONE of this book focuses on teaching the form to beginners.

In PART TWO, the posture applications are outlined for advanced practitioners. In PART THREE six spiritualizing techniques are described, called Chi Yute Gung. This is Chi Gung, combined with Chinese acupuncture theory, designed to cultivate the Jing (vital essence), Chi (energy), and Shen (Spirit). I present the Yang Family Long Form (hereafter refered to as “the form”) as taught by Yang, Cheng Fu and promulgated by Master Fu, Zhongwen. My interpretations of the applications to the form are based on my practice as well as from my martial arts experience, dating back to 1976. The effectiveness of my interpretations of the applications will prove their validity. There is absolutely no wasted movement in the form. Every single movement has an application. In some cases, some details are left out of the form, so that if one does not seriously ponder, the applications cannot be understood.
